Meet Rachel
I’m Rachel McQuillen, a wife, mother, small business owner, and proud member of the City of Fairfax City Council.
Serving our community has been one of the greatest honors of my life. From my time on the City of Fairfax School Board to now serving on the City Council, I’ve remained focused on one goal: making thoughtful, responsible decisions that strengthen our city today while protecting its future. I was elected in one of the most competitive races in Fairfax City history, winning the final seat by just four votes, reinforcing my commitment to earning every resident’s trust
Born into a family rooted in military service and public education, I bring a strong foundation of discipline, accountability, and public service to everything I do. Professionally, my background spans administration, accounting, and finance, alongside running my own small business here in our community. That experience shapes how I approach every decision, with a careful eye on long-term sustainability, fiscal responsibility, and real-world impact for Fairfax City residents.
I love this city. As a graduate of Northern Virginia Community College and George Mason University, and as a parent raising my family here, Fairfax City isn’t just where I serve, it’s home.
On Council, my priorities are clear: supporting our schools, maintaining strong public safety, investing responsibly in our infrastructure and facilities, and ensuring that every decision we make reflects both affordability and long-term value for taxpayers.
What guides me most is a simple approach: listen carefully, ask the right questions, and make decisions grounded in facts, transparency, and community input. I believe residents deserve a government that is responsive, accountable, and willing to do the work to get it right.
Fairfax City is a special place, and I remain committed to helping it thrive in a way that reflects our shared values, protects our quality of life, and builds a strong future for every resident.
